There isn’t a direct connection between Jamaican diaspora music, and the current more Eurocentric sounds of House & Techno, but there are lots of lines that can be drawn through individual records, dub mixing (a style of music production and mixing), and soundsystem culture. I like to connect genres based on the focus on bass & drums, and the use of space and repetition.
